5% letting agent defends his low cost fees

A letting agent from the North East has defended himself and his low cost agent fees of 5% saying his company works efficiently rather than cuts corners. Ajay Jagota, the managing director of Kis Lettings spoke out when a fellow letting agent made a bold claim on a well-known forum saying that landlords often suffer when they choose the cheapest letting agent.

Mr Jagota stressed that the level of fees charged by a letting agent shouldn’t be used to make a judgement on the professionalism and competence of the company. He then went on to say; “Yes, there may be some seemingly bargain agents that need to be avoided, but landlords need to do more research than merely looking at cost to determine whether agents have the expertise and knowledge to provide a quality, secure service.”

Mr Jagota recently invested in a high-spec online portal for Kis Lettings that allows landlords registered with the company to check details about their properties, their legal documents and their tenant’s rental payments online. This ultimately results in fewer telephone queries and a much more efficient administration process.

Mr Jagota then finished his defence of his low cost fee option by saying; “In order to remain competitive, there are companies that have developed ways of working smarter so that we can provide the same high-quality service but at a fraction of the cost that other agents might charge.”
