Latest Paragon Survey shows Landlords still have a Positive Outlook

A recent survey conducted by Paragon, one of the UK’s biggest buy to let mortgage specialists, has indicated that landlords in the private rental sector are currently feeling very positive about the industry – mainly because of the results they got and changes they saw through the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2011.

The survey asked landlords about their personal views on aspects of the buy to let industry that affect them on a daily basis, such as tenant demand in their local area, the availability of buy to let mortgages, rental yields and the potential for increasing their property portfolios.

The reported results were very positive with over half of the landlords interviewed saying that tenant demand in their area was positively booming. In addition nearly 30% agreed that buy to let finance options had improved during the second half of 2011 and 20% stated that they were intending to buy additional properties during 2012.

Chief executive of the Paragon Group, Mr Nigel Terrington commented “The final quarter of last year proved to be very positive for landlords, and for many of those that provided feedback in the Trends survey it was the most successful quarter of the year. It is also interesting to see that in general, landlords expect 2012 to be a steady, stable year with continuing opportunities to achieve healthy yields and make further property purchases.”
