I’ve got six houses in Croydon, one in Wandworth and one in Leatherhead. I’ve read that I can legitimately deduct costs to minimise the amount I pay in tax on my properties? Can you tell me which costs I can deduct?

Generally you can deduct the following expenses:-

Interest on mortgage payments

Letting agent / management fees

Legal fees (not associated with purchase or disposal of the property)

Travel – make a note of the mileage you travel

Maintenance and repairs

Accountancy Fees

Repairs
